What types of sessions do you offer?
All pricing packages apply for portrait sessions for Family, Maternity, In-home lifestyle, Couples & Engagement
In-home newborn natural light lifestyle session, which will include candid shots of your newest family member. There will be emphasis on parent and sibling involvement and interaction with your newest addition. Time varies to account for settling baby down, feeding/burping/diaper change schedules and all the blessed mini-interruptions that come along with having a new little one!
What should I expect to see in my gallery?
Edited photos will contain a healthy mix of both posed and candid shots and will be presented via an online proofing gallery of which you can make your final selections (number of images varies depending on which package you choose).
When will I get my gallery?
You can expect to see your gallery within 2-3 weeks of our session date.
What is a "Personal Print Release" on my digital photos? Does that mean I own them?
In short, 83 Lux Photography owns the copy right to all photographs taken at your session, however, I release the digitals to you for your personal use only for printing or social media use.
For those who love the technical jargon:
All photographic materials, including but not limited to digital photographs, negatives, transparencies, proofs, and previews, shall be the exclusive property of the Photographer. The Photographer retains copyright of all photographic materials resulting from the Photography Session as well as all distributing and third party rights to photographic materials. The Photographer hereby grants the Client unlimited but non-exclusive rights to use or reproduce only the photographs made available to The Client for download for personal or private use only, including printing for personal use or use on personal social media. Any use of photographs by The Client on social media shall include proper credit to 83 LUX Photography.
May I purchase more digital photos than my chosen package offers?
Your delivered gallery may contain more photographs than prescribed in your package. In this case, any additional photographs beyond the amount promised for your session can be purchased for $50 per photo, or you can upgrade to any higher package.
How many people can I bring to my session?
All session packages are available for your immediate family of up to five people. If your immediate family household contains more than five people, additional persons can be added to the original group of five for an additional $75 for every extra head over the original party of 5.
Do you do large group sessions (more than ten people) or multi-family sessions?
Sessions and pricing packages apply for just your immediate family. Related families must book separate sessions, instead of merging into one session. Booking separately is encouraged so that I have enough time to capture the individual spirit of each family.
For large groups of 10+ individuals, any additional persons can be added to the a group of five for an additional $75 for every extra head over the original party of 5.
How is my gallery delivered to me?
Galleries are delivered online for you to make a selection of your favorite images. Final selections will be delivered as non-watermarked high resolution images via digital download, complete with a print release for personal and private printing & social media use. If you are provided with more photographs in your gallery than your package offers, additional photographs may be selected and purchased a la carte for an additional amount per photo or via a package upgrade.
Can I post my images on social media?
Yes you can and if you do I appreciate it if you ensure you include proper credit to 83 Lux Photography (@83luxphotography) through tagging or a mention! If it is an image you have yet to purchase or select from your gallery, please do not remove or crop any watermarks if possible. There are some other things regarding posting in the Photography Agreement that we sign together, most of it is common sense, but please make sure you read it if you choose to secure a session with me!
Do I get ALL the images from the session?
All photographs in the online gallery made view-able to the Client are not guaranteed to include all photos taken during the Photography Session. Photographs that are deemed unprofessional in quality will not be edited nor released at the Photographer's discretion, and at no point will The Photographer release to the The Client photographs in their original Camera RAW format.
Do I need to sign a contract or an agreement before we begin our session?
Yes, to secure your date, all session require a $150 non-refundable retainer and a signed photography agreement (sent electronically)
FAQS - PAYMENT
Do you charge sales tax?
I am a licensed and registered business in the state of Washington. As such, Washington sales tax applies for session package prices, digital image and print product purchases.
Do I need to pay a retainer/deposit to secure my date?
A non-refundable retainer payment of $150 and a signed Photography Agreement is required to secure your date. After our session you will be sent an invoice for the agreed upon pricing package (plus any applicable taxes) minus the retainer fee you already paid.
When do I need to pay for my session?
Your session fee needs to be paid within two weeks of our session date. Please note applicable taxes apply and any retainer fees already paid will be subtracted from your session fee amount.

FAQ - CANCELLATION POLICIES
Are sessions held outdoors or indoors?
My sweet spot is natural light sessions that are held in an outdoor location of your choice; I reserve some select indoor locations for those rainy days in which we simply cannot reschedule. For in-home newborn & baby sessions, of course these are indoor, typically within your home.
What happens if rain is predicted on my scheduled outdoor session?
I reschedule due to rain, and unsafe or inclement weather. And in those cases, we always reschedule! However, please understand that we will try to stick to our date and time was much as possible. The weather in the pacific northwest is sometimes unpredictable and we might get lucky! And if for whatever reason you want to continue with the shoot, I respect that and we can head to the few indoor locations that Seattle offers.
What if I need to cancel my session?
If you choose to cancel your session for anything other than rain or unsafe/inclement weather, I encourage you to reschedule! However, I understand that life happens and if we can't reschedule, I completely understand. Please understand that in the event that you choose not to reschedule, you forfeit any retainers paid.
If I were to get super technical, here's what it says in the Photography Agreement that you and I sign to secure your session date:
"If Client requests to amend or cancel this agreement 48 hours before the Session Date, the Retainer shall be applied to a mutually agreed upon reschedule date. The rescheduled Session Date must occur within six months of the original Session Date. Failure to reschedule within these time limits will result in the forfeit of the Retainer by the the Client . If Client cancels this agreement 48 hours or less before the Session Date, or fails to show at the agreed upon Session Date and Time, the Non-refundable Retainer shall be forfeited by The Client."
