This family is truly special in so many different ways to each and every individual in my own family. As a child, the home I grew up in Canada was a rotating door of aunts and uncles dropping by to chat, to babysit us kids, or to drop off food. I’m sure lots of people who live near family continue to enjoy and appreciate this beautiful life style, especially now that they are all grown up and have families and children of their own. We made the choice to move away and start our life here in the states, and it took quite a while for me to pin-point what was missing once we had our own children; it was that “village”. With certainty I can say that this family with their big hearts are part of our village, and more so now than ever during these pandemic times. They are quite literally beautiful and kind (as is to be expected as they are also Canadians!) in every sense of the word. We’re lucky to have them as our friends and to have their vivacious, creative and kind daughters as the best of friends with our own girls. It goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway: I am ever grateful they landed in our orbit here in WA and we had the good fortune to run into them!
While I’m a bit behind on blogging last year’s sessions, I’m finding it cathartic seeing my summer work in our winter months here in WA. Looking back on this gorgeous flower garden session with this family brings back a rush of warmth and light and inspires me for 2021 sessions all the more. As a reminder, 2021 availability will drop in inboxes sometime in February, so stay tuned for that!
