The day my sister and her family rolled on down from Canada to our home in Redmond, I hauled them over to Mercer Slough during the day’s dying light. We managed to capture some great shots of their family, and of course, of my sweet nephew, who could smile on cue and undeniably knew how to ham it up for the camera (he’s a pro).
This past year has seen me shooting in many different times of the day, with many wonderful and different types of people/personalities/schedules, with a gamut of lenses, but always beautiful kids! It’s been a wonderful year of growth in a space that was very different from my main profession, and I’m so grateful and humbled for all those who enable me to explore it by asking me to photograph them!
However, this photo shoot with my sister and her family was all about going back to the basics. Shooting in effortless sunset/evening light with my lens fearlessly wide open. And most importantly, capturing those you know and love, which is where it all started with me so long ago – it has and always will be the best place to ground yourself.
Have a wonderful weekend.
