A Canadian friend of my eldest brother, someone I hadn’t seen for over ten years, contacted me out of the blue, asking whether I’d be available to take photos in Victoria (both our home town) during the July 4th weekend (otherwise known in Canada as Canada Day weekend). The stars most definitely aligned and I was thrilled at the chance to photograph her family on my beloved Vancouver Island. Scouring through my memory of my favorite childhood haunts (with a photographers perspective this time), we ended up at the iconic Beacon Hill park. Traveling from Toronto this mother and her adorable young sons were beyond beautiful to capture!
Your home is where you will always feel the deepest affection, no matter where you are. Going back home and seeing what has changed is surreal, but I also marvel at the things that have remained the same at its core. It always reminds me of family; like branches on a tree, we all grow and change in different directions, yet our roots remain the same ♥
