I was in awe of this teenager’s talent and beauty. A testament to her dance affinity was her multitude of facial expressions and her ability to manipulate her body into a pose with the utmost grace. The ease with which she knew her craft was so easy to capture.
Spending that winter morning with her I realized I was witnessing someone truly straddling the line between girl and woman. I saw flashes of the child within – at times silly, sometimes uncertain, but in the next instant I saw the strength, intelligence, and motivation of a young woman still navigating her path, but certain of the path she was on. At all times I knew I was looking at someone who was following her passion, and I can’t think of a better place to start out in life.
One of the most courageous things you can do is identify yourself, know who you are, what you believe in and where you want to go.
